I wrote a perl program to create a randomized array containing 0-9. How can I loop this ie. make it print 10 random arrays at a time or continually loop until a certain array is created?

What is the subject matter of all the paintings below? what is the composition used?

I finished my undergraduate work in Computer Security and Information Assurance- and have always loved to program. The focus in my coursework was C++- but for what I do at work- I ve been using a lot of Perl. Because of this- I ve forgotten nearly everything in regards to C++ (although I m sure I could pick it up again).

I d like to get back into full-fledged programming so I can develop user applications- and I think one day I may like to get into the gaming industry - if only to work on my own indie games. I also would like to move more into the realm of Windows-based GUI programming- instead of doing everything through the CLI.

Can anyone offer any advice based on this- and their reasoning?

Thanks a ton!

Help! I m usually the technologically savvy one- but when a friend of mine asked me what web hosting company would be best for their business- I had no idea. I have tried searching online- but I have no idea what most of the technological terms mean (such as PERL- VPS- SSL) The following is their requirement (they have a small business that sells less than ten products / services):
*They need access of certain parts of the Electronic shop (e-shop) to be restricted to certain members
*Unlimited Disc Space
*Unlimited Data Transfer
*At least 250 email addresses with unlimited storage and at least 10MB of attachments; catch all; free aliases; mailing list
*Free Site Building/ Design Tools
*Hosting of the Web Site & ability to accept payment through pay pal- Visa- Mastercard- and Discover plus Free Shopping Cart
*The ability for customers to create usernames and passwords to log in
*Interactive chatting between customers and support
*Site Statistics
*Online Gift Certificates and Coupons

Record Line:

1-2-3-"four-for"-5-"six-ssiixx"-"seven"

I want to remove the comma in "four-for" and "six-ssiixx". I tried using the $myValue =~ s/<regular_exp>/<replace_value>/g but I just end up replacing the string starting from the bad field to the last instance of a comma on the record.
Yahoo cut off my record string. Here it is again:

1-2-3-"four-for"-5-"six-ssiixx"-"seven"
Once again- here is the full string with comma plus spacing afterwards:

1- 2- 3- "four- for"- 5- "six- ssiixx"- "seven"
I m satisfied with raymanrevo s answer but how do I choose "Best Answer"?

Here is a modified version of raymanrevo s suggestion incorporating possible spacing:

$myValue =~ s/("[\w\ ]*)-([\w\ ]*")/\1\2/g;

Thank you raymanrevo! :)

Is there a way to convert a Perl script to a VB script? I ve searched the net and can t find a thing... OR anyone that would be willing to convert this for me??? Any help is appreciated!!! :-) THANKS!!!

i have a blackberry perl but the n96 and the n76 look great oh the n96 for the space .i what to get the blackberry 9000 causes its so look at me

$myValue =~ s/("[\w\ ]*)-([\w\ ]*")/\1\2/g;

Thank you raymanrevo! :)

How do i close multiple files in one command instead of typing "close" one by one:?

Sample:
close("file1.txt");
close("file2.txt");
close("file3.txt");
close("file4.txt");

I have used these: MS office â€" Word- Excel- PowerPoint- Publisher- Exchange- Outlook (both forms) â€" Windows and Mac OS- Open Office â€" Linux- Adobe Acrobat Professional â€" All OS (including Linux implementation)- FileMaker Pro 7 (last version I’ve used)- Dreamweaver- Flash- MySQL- PHP- Apache- Unix- Ruby (coding)- PERL (don’t ask me ‘cause I forget but- I’ve done it before…LONG TIME AGO when I had no life)- Redhat- Fedora- Debian- Mepis- Mandrake. Omni-Graffle- Sound Designer Pro- Pro Tools- Custom designed Sound and Light grids using Visio and Concept Draw- Web html apps- XML
Batch mod â€" unix permissions

Plus hardware support- 3 com switches and routers
Linksys and Cisco Managed switches- routers- Networking Patching- Nortel PBX Switching schemes and management console software- Wireless Access Points â€" Linksys- Dlink- Netgear- Oronico- Apple Airport

Not too mention the telecommunications end user support.

How do I put all this into a resume succinctly? HELP!

I am trying to install a perl based forum on my website and I m having absolutely NO luck. I ve contacted my host to make sure that my server supports perl...and it does. But- everytime I try to point my browser to my install file (Install.pl) I only get the option to download the file. I am supposed to- at that point- see a setup screen. After much trying and frustration- I contacted my host again and they told me to use the program Putty to SSH the Install.pl file. So- now- I ve downloaded Putty and am wondering what to do next...any ideas?

Please give a small example of a perl CLI code which will take some input from user and give some output.I want this urgently.Plz help.Thanks

I want to create a tool which will convert a given firewall rule into a different firewall format.The user have to input the config file of the firewall rules and the tool will convert it.The tool has to be based on command line interface.So can I do it in perl.If yes then plz give me a small example of a basic command line interface code.Thanks

What makes a programming language architecture neutral by the way?

I am trying to install a perl based forum on my website and I m having absolutely NO luck. I ve contacted my host to make sure that my server supports perl...and it does. But- everytime I try to point my browser to my install file (Install.pl) I only get the option to download the file. I am supposed to- at that point- see a setup screen. After much trying and frustration- I contacted my host again and they told me to use the program Putty to SSH the Install.pl file. So- now- I ve downloaded Putty and am wondering what to do next...any ideas?

Please give a small example of a perl CLI code which will take some input from user and give some output.I want this urgently.Plz help.Thanks

i have alredy beat the 7th gym leader but i will like to know how to get to the 8th gym leader i know its at sunnyshore city but how do you get there please help me i will really aprexiate it

I m currently stuck deciding between 2 great free hosts!
Here s the breakdown:

Host # 1:
- short subdomain (about 3 char. long)
- cPanel w/fantastico
- PHP and Perl Support
- Unlimited Sub-domains- E-mail- & MySQL Databases
- Somewhat inactive owner
- somewhat active hostees
- very slow response (I posted a question at the forum and I only got a reply from the owner 10 days later)
- not responsible for back-ups
- owner has to review apps first
- reseller at surpasshosting

HOST # 2:
- long subdomain (about 14 char. long)
- No cPanel but has Webmin control panel instead
- Unlimited space and bandwidth
- Up to 2 subdomains (more upon request) and up to 5 websites
- PHP 5.2- Ruby on Rails 1.2- MySql 5.0- phpMyAdmin- etc.
- regular offsite back-ups
- Very active owner (I sent 2 questions through email to him already and responded less than 30 minutes!)
- Somewhat inactive hostees
- very selective when it comes to hostees (But I fit)
- own server
I m not linking to the sites because I don t want to attract applications from noobs and abusers if you know what I mean...

The site I m planning to make is a personal site and portfolio/fanlisting collective. I might buy a domain name and my own hosting account next year when I get my online payment stuff set-up. But for now- free-hosting will do.

What do you guys think? Any opinion is much appreciated.

I have a value coming back in a Perl program that may be an array or just a single value. The problem is that I need to somehow determine this before trying to access it or I get an error. I could have the value 23 coming back or the value 23- 1- 3- 5 etc. Is there an intelligent/elegant way to deal with this problem?

im using the recommended open (FILE- ">>$file") with $file = "enquiries.txt"
i use ftp to upload my files to the server- i have created a perl script that resides on the server that takes information from html form posts- and is supposed to save it to the server- instead it tries to save it to the client pc instead

Any opinion is much appreciated.

it is a question

data:
abcdefgh
<----- (Blank space just enter enter)
ijklmno

Problem:
How do i tell perl to skip this line if i m making a loop????

sample:
while (<DATA>)
{
if ($_ =~ ????????????) <--- don t know
{
}
else
{
print OUT $_;
}
}

Can anyone kindly explain to me what does the following expression mean in PERL programming?

If (/^\s*\.*?\s+\.*?\s+(.*?)\s+.*\s*$/) {
print “$1\n”;
}
